Some of these factors are uncontrollable and there is no way to prepare for them (the phenomenon also simply known as “ life happens”). The reason for this is that during such a large time period, your life is going to be influenced by a lot of factors. How can then someone derive such an estimate?įor starters, you need to understand that the exact amount of time that is necessary to finish the thesis writing is hard to predict. Therefore, you need to make a well-balanced estimate and plan your thesis writing accordingly. On the other hand, you surely don’t want to underestimate the time that is required for such a colossal task. So you might not want to spend too much of your time in thesis writing. Time equals money as they say, and that’s definitively the case for the PhD. That’s a minimum proposed time frame and it might be far from ideal for you. 3Įxamples of things to write can be submission of papers, finishing data analyses or other leftover work, writing the thesis, preparing for the defence, sending some important emails, etc.Īllocate at least two months of your time for the writing of the thesis. Write down in that document the important things that need to be done in the last six months of your PhD, preferably in some chronological order. Here is a proposal: make a document with your PhD plan. So schedule it in a proper time-wise manner.ĭo not wait until it’s just two weeks before the deadline to start writing. It is going to be a painful task for most of you (it was for me). It is hard, maybe even the hardest thing you have to do during your PhD. So far those my only issues - and they're very 'me' specific - a great app all around.A PhD thesis can not be written in one week. So, should I wish to bulk update all of a particular season of a show, say Battlestar - and have iFlicks add artwork where I had none before - the new iFlicks renders every episode of season 2 as being Season 2 Episode 2. For example - if you have two hard drives hooked up and both hosting media to iTunes, but only one of those can be your "media folder location" - any items that are IN iTunes, but NOT IN the media folder location, ie the hard drive location under the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences, cannot be added to iFlicks.Ģ) When updating TV Shows for items already in iTunes - iFlicks appears to be taking the Disc number of the show (which would be the season number) and applying that to the episode number during look up. Updating metadata of items already in iTunes:ġ) Cannot add items that aren't located in the current media folder location. One question though: what is the source for the square images? I'm curious since they're not the easiest to find and I'd love to grab back-seasons at this point iFlicks seems to just use the "latest' available image for a show I'd love to get season-specific images.Īnyways, great work! It's very promising and a good upgrade from 1.4.x :-) Comment actions It's by far the best tool to use for these sorts of things. Moving the queue into the main window was long overdue and iFlicks genuinely feels like a bonafide OS X citizen now. I've converted a bunch of files and had no issues. While this isn't necessarily "unexpected" behaviour, it could easily confuse some users. If you set up a watch folder, you start getting recursion issues if you have it set to use the same directory for conversions (the converted files are added into iFlicks since they end up in the watch folder). Been giving it a shot, and it's doing fairly well for the most part.
